How to Paint in MECCHA CHAMELEON

A step-by-step beginner guide to using the paint tool and creating your first camouflage. Master the basics in under 5 minutes.

MECCHA CHAMELEON's paint tool is the heart of the game. The good news: it's simple to learn. The bad news: mastering it takes time. This beginner guide walks you through your first paint job step by step.

Step-by-Step: Your First Paint Job

1

Open the Paint Tool

When a match starts, you have a prep period. During prep, click the Left Mouse Button to open the in-game paint tool. The painting interface will appear on screen.

2

Choose Your Hiding Spot

Walk around the map and pick a hiding spot. The closer to objects and color transitions, the easier the paint job. Avoid large open areas.

3

Use the Eyedropper

Press Spacebar to activate the eyedropper. Aim at any color on screen and click to sample it. This is the most powerful tool in your kit.

4

Paint Your Base Color

Apply the sampled color to your body. Start with the largest area first. Get the base color right before adding details.

5

Add Detail and Shadows

Sample darker shades from shadow areas of your hiding spot. Apply these to the parts of your body that would naturally be in shadow.

6

Lock Your Pose

Once you are happy with the paint, use the wall-stick or pose-lock feature (default: Right Click) to commit. The hunt will start soon — don't be still painting when it does.

The 3 Golden Rules of Painting

  1. Color first, detail second. Get the base color right before adding anything else. A wrong base color means a wrong camouflage.
  2. Match the lighting, not the color. A wall lit by the sun looks different from a wall in shadow. Sample colors that match the LIGHTING of your hiding spot.
  3. Stop painting before the hunt starts. Moving during the hunt is the #1 way to get caught. Lock your pose and stay still.

Common Beginner Mistakes

  • Forgetting to lock the pose
  • Painting too much detail and not enough base color
  • Sampling colors from the wrong angle
  • Choosing a flat, single-color hiding spot
  • Repositioning mid-hunt
